DAVID ZINCZENKO

David Zinczenko, the author of the abs diet, is not a new name for most ‘diet fans’, especially in the United States. The name Zinczenko is something that most these people must have heard of or read about since he has not only made himself popular in the field of journalism, but he has also marked his place as a health enthusiast and a health advocate.

As editor in chief of the internationally circulating, Men’s Health magazine, David Zinczenko oversees for the editorial content of more than 1.85 million copies of the magazine distributed in over 42 countries. Aside from Men’s Health, he is also the editorial director for other health magazines such as Women’s Health (the recent spin off of Men’s Health released in 2005), and also Best Life (a magazine for the upper class that is rapidly gaining popularity). He has also written editorials for newspapers such as USA Today, the New York Times and Los Angeles Times. His name and writing is well known also via the worldwide web through his Yahoo web blogs entitled ‘Eat this, Not that’ and ‘Mysteries of the Sexes Explained’. Aside from writing, David also appears regularly in television shows such as the Today show. He has also been a guest in other popular shows such as Oprah, Rachel Ray, Biggest Loser, 20/20 and Good Morning America. His credit list only proves that Zinczenko truly has conquered all forms of media – television, print and even internet.

Using his popularity from media exposures, Zinczenko has lobbied for the increase in awareness of health among individuals. In 2007, he started FitSchools, a way to raise health interest and fight obesity among children by involving them in active, healthy lifestyles. In 1994, Zinczenko also helped the passage of the bill establishing National Men’s Health Week (also the week of Father’s Day). He has also published a number of books to his name, including the ‘Abs Diet’ and the ‘Eat this, Not that!’ series. Currently, David Zinczenko stands as a nutritional regulation reform advocate and the National Spokesman for Men.

For all his work, Zinczenko has been noticed, earning various awards and titles such as the 2008 Ad Week’s Editor of the Year, and six gold medals in Folio’s CDMA competition. He was also been included in the 2002 and 2007 edition of People’s 50 Most Eligible Bachelors and 2003 MIN magazine’s list of 21 Most Intriguing People.

It is little known to most people that Zinczenko is of Ukranian decent and grew up in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Liberty High School and achieved his undergraduate degree in Moravian College, both local schools of that state.
